كانت معروفة السلطانة هوريم هسكي أو السلطانة بلسق باللغة الاوروبية عرفت ب روكسلينا , روزا وباللغة التركية هوريم (من الفارسية خرم : المفرحة ) وبالعربية الكريمة .روكسلينا ربما ليس بالإسم اللائق ولكن يرجع لتراثها الأوكراني( حيث الأسم المعاصر هو : روسلانا). روكسولاني إسم أحد العبيد الشرقيين الأوكرانيين , الذين عاشو حتى القرن الخامس عشر .

أواخر القرن السادس عشر و أوائل السابع عشر مصادر كالشاعر البولندي سامويل تورديسكي الذي قام ببحث في تركيا, أن هوريم يبدو أنها ولدت من أب كان كاهن أورتودسكي في قرية روهاتين 68كيلومتر جنوب شرق ليفيف مدينة كبيرة من اقليم الروثنيين في مملكة بولندا ( أوكرانيا الشرقية حاليا). أمسك بها التاتار في حملاتهم المستمرة في ذلك الوقت على المنطقة واسرت كعبدة في مدينة كريمين التابعه لكافا المقر الرئيسي لتجارة العبيد ومن ثم الى اسطنبول و اختيرت لمقر نساء سليمان.

الكاتب الفرنسي والمؤرخ فونتيلي ذكر كتاب(حوارات الموتى)طريقة زواج روكسيلينا:أولا طلبت تعريفها بدين الإسلام, وسليمان لم يعترض . فور معرفتها بتعاليم الدين طلبت أن تعتنق الإسلام الذي أسعده وقرر ان يعتقها. ولكن بعد مراسم اعتناق الدين الإسلامي أخبرته أن دينها الجديد لا يسمح لها أن تقوم بممارسة الجنس مع رجل ليس زوجها. حسب فونتيلي , سليمان قاوم ثلاث أيام ثم تزوجها.

تأثير هوريم على السلطان أصبح إسطوري بعد أن أصبحت أم لخمسة من أولاده الأربعة عشر, وتغير مذهل للعادات.في النهاية حررت واصبحت زوجته الشرعية بذلك جعلت من سليمان اول إمبراطور عثماني يتزوج منذ (أورهان غازي).

قوى من مركزها في القصر و من أحد أولادها سليم ليرث الإمبراطورية. هوريم يعتقد أنها قامت بدور المستشارة في أمور الحكم وبدى أن لها تأثير على العلاقات الخارجية والدولية السياسية. إثنان من رسائلها لملك بولندا (سيجيسموند الثاني) تم حفظهما. وخلال حياتها الإمبراطورية العثمانية كانت على ود مع الدولة البولندية من خلال التحالف البولندي-العثماني. بعض المؤرخين يعتقدوا أنها تدخلت بأمور (كريمين)  غارات التاتار لجمع العبيد في بلدها الأم.

على حدى من مساعيها السياسية ,هوريم كان لها عدة أعمال أساسية في الإعمار العام من مكة الى القدس وربما اعادة ديكور مؤسستها الخيرية بعد عهد زبيدة زوجة هارون الرشيد.من أعمالها الإعمارية كان  جامع,مدرستين, مؤسسة,مشفى نسائية بالقرب من سوق النساء العبيد في القسطنطينية . أمرت بإقامة حمام(حمام السلطانة هوريم ) لخدمة المجتمع  بالقرب من حجية صوفية. في القدس  أنشئت إمارة ومطبخ لإطعام العامة الفقيرة والمحتاجة.

وأيضا بعض من مقتنياتها المطرزة التي أشرفت عليهم وما تبقى منهم أعطو في ل (تهمساب الأول) شاه ايران , و في للملك (سيجيسموند الثاني) . ايستر كانت أمينة سرها و وسيطتها في عدة مناسبات.

توفت هوريم في 15 نيسان ودفنت في مقبرة(موسوليم) المزينة ببالبلاط الإزنيقية المصور لحديقة الجنة, ربما إجلالا لغبتسامتها وطبيعتها المرحة. إن مقبرتها على مقربة من مقبرة سليمان، هيكل القبة منفصل وأكثر قتامة في جامع السليمانية.

السلطانة هيسكي هوريم أو روكسيلينا كما عرفت في أوروبا, معروفه بتركيا الحديثة و الغرب على أنها موضوع أعمال فنية كثيرة. ألهمت رساميين و موسيقيين ( من ضمنهم سمفونية جوزيف هايدين 63) (اوبرا دينيس سيكينسكي) باليه, مسرحية وعدة روايات كتبو في أوكرانيا, وبالانكليزية ,الفرنسية و الألمانيا.

في في ماريوبول مدينة في أوكرانيا افتتح جامع لتكريم (روكسيلينا).

في التلفاز مسلسل القرن الرائع, هوريم السلطانة لعبت دورها الممثلة التركية مريم أوزيرلي.
