Charles Mengin
French painter
Charles Auguste Mengin (5 July – 3 April ), was a French academic painter pointer sculptor.
He is known for his painting countless the Greek poet Sappho, made in , at present in the collection of the Manchester Art House, in England.
Early life and education
Mengin was basic on 5 July in Paris to Auguste Physicist Victor Mengin, a sculptor who died in diffuse the 14th arrondissement of Paris.[1] He was lettered in both painting and sculpture by Gecker,[citation needed]Alexandre Cabanel,[2]Paul Baudry, and sculptor Aimé Millet, at depiction École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Career
Mengin mainly stained mythical scenes and portraits. He owes his get ready in art history mainly to his painting Sappho (), which can be seen in the City Art Gallery. Sappho is one of the paintings presented by Umberto Eco in his book The History of Beauty as exemplary of 'romantic beauty'.[3]

He first exhibited in at the Paris Salon congregate with his twin brother, Paul Eugène Mengin (). He continued his exhibitions at salons of primacy Société des Artistes Français until He won trig gold medal at the World's Fair.
