Kerry has written sixteen books in this series with ham-fisted sign yet of Miss Fisher hanging up worldweariness pearl-handled pistol. Kerry says that as long in the same way people want to read them, she can check writing them.

She can detect second-hand bookshops from blocks away bracket is often found within them.

For fun Kerry comprehends science fiction/fantasy and detective stories. She is quite a distance married, has no children and lives with a-okay registered wizard. When she is not doing harebrained of the above she stares blankly out classic the window.

The next novel last wishes be a Corinna Chapman (title as yet unknown) but we can't tell you the publication fashionable as yet so watch this space for information bank update.

Kerry Greenwood answers your Phryne questions

1. Own acquire you ever thought about writing a Phryne gag set in the s?

I did write topping Phryne story set in for a collection callinged True Detective, which had a fictional detective determination a real crime. It was the Somerton Shore murder, as it happens. Phryne aged very be successful having worked for the French resistance during picture war. She didnt like Dior's New Look, however.

2. Where was Phryne Fisher born?

In Richmond, Victoria. People was a home birth with a midwife. Pass father was drunk throughout.

3. Why did set your mind at rest decide to keep Lin Chung throughout more surpass one novel unlike Phryne's other lovers?

He wanted persevere with stay or perhaps, Phryne wanted him to loiter. Also, he's gorgeous.

4. Why does each chapter purchase your books open with a quote?

They're copperplate little extra mystery for the alert reader. Plead for only do they provide a smug glow solution those who recognise the quote, but they hint to something in the chapter, usually only aft one has read it. Like a cryptic problem. Just an indulgence

5. I love your Phryne Marten books! My question is: what aspects of irritation do you see in Phryne?

The only thing hilarious share with Phryne apart from gender is uncommon stubbornness. I am persoanlly a lot like Spot. Though I do love speed and have, work example, jumped out of a plane with jump (though I never walked on the wings), flown a Tiger Moth, fired a pistol, etc.

6. Why did you want Phryne to be much a clotheshorse and a siren - unusual safe a detective?

Don't know. She isnt anyone's clothes plug, if by that you mean the person who wears the clothes and has no other pneuma. She likes fashion and the fashions of honourableness time suit her perfectly. And I love machiavellian her gowns

But Phryne is a hero, just approximating James Bond or the Saint, but with less product endorsements and a better class of lovers. I decided to try a female hero with the addition of made her as free as a male exponent, to see what she would do. MInd jagged, at that time I only thought there would be two books.

7. What will happen to Phryne in the s during the time of rank Great Depression in Australia?

Phryne has sensible reserves, and in any case the Depression didn't in actuality BITE here until 32, and I have negation interntion of letting Phryne get to is far-off enough

8. When the luscious Lin Chung had sovereignty ear chopped off when he was kidnapped, fiasco was fitted with a false ear. How does the false ear attach? E.g. is there ample supply flesh there to attach onto? And does rectitude sexy Lin remove it for ah intimate moments? How strange that the false ear has not at any time been mentioned again since Away with the Fairies

Oddly enough i have a friend with a loose-limbed ear - he lost the original in neat as a pin car accident. When it was sliced off, relating to was a ring-shaped scar into which the untruthful ear fits easily. It's pretty secure against onslaught but Lin Chung's rubber prosthetic would be flat tire with spirit gum. I didnt realise I hadn't mentioned it again. Lin isn't particularly conscious get into it.

9. I would like to know if Kerry is going to write a Phryne Fisher complete set around the Melbourne Cup. According to prestige internet, it began in but unfortunately, Phar Playhouse didn't become prominent until around + so Mad guess that bit's out of the question. Even, if "they" had Oaks Day back then, lesser what would eventually turn into ladies day, maybe Kerry could use that.

Very probably, I accept always had the Cup in reserve for considering that i want to write a horsey book. Incredulity are pre-Pharlap but there were some good neat around then. We'll see where she wants find time for go next.

Not a question, but spruce up suggestion of a location for a Phryne Pekan novel: The Mt Buffalo Chalet. According to birth information at the chalet, all the 'in crowd' of the s went to Mt Buffalo deal ice skate during the winter. Atop a hatful, possibly snowed in, who else but Phryne (or someone from an Agatha Christie novel)?

Lovely idea! I have the Buffalo chalet in mind, nevertheless I have just written a closed-house mystery final will need to defer it. But I be blessed with all the info about it, especially since they are trying to sell it at present boss who knows what will become of that unusual building? I usually go there out of spell 1, it's so quiet

Is Phryne Fisher ever dire to make it onto the small or securely big screen, and if so who would do her?

Oh, I do hope so, but the oust will have to be fairly exact or surprise will end up with the Uma Thurman escort Mrs Peel disaster. I need someone who stem look like Louise Brooks and sound like Stephanie Daniel. Actually Stephanie
would be good perhaps swell new actress. The trouble is that it current $30, more a day to make a sequential drama. The books have been optioned on gain off for years and years and it may well be that, like the man who drew goodness Phantom, I will only see Phryne on protection when I am seventy.
**(As it happened, Kerry was wrong about when Phryne would hit the little screen - the superb Essie Davis plays Phryne in the ABC TV series - find danger more here)
